As you sow, so you reap or big business in educational market

In 2022, a couple of new private universities will appear in Ukraine. No coincidence. Experts predicted the growth of investments in education several years ago. Understaffing is the reason. Big business has to educate the needed experts on its own.

According to opinion polls, one in five Ukrainian students dreams of studying abroad. Most of those staying at home choose the humanities as their major. Domestic technical education attracts only a third of entrants.

Therefore, it is not surprising that IT entrepreneurs and the new economy representatives prevail among the visionaries caring about the quality of Ukrainian education.

But what if you combine the efforts of a private school with more than 20-year experience and a young IT-guru? The Founding Partner of Roosh Sergiy Tokarev and the Kyiv School of Economics have tried to find out and created something really special. SET University.

Its mission is to create a strong Ukrainian product market. The University plans to produce IT entrepreneurs rather than outsourcing specialists. Students will pitch their ideas and develop business plans. No boring thesis. Just real presentations for real investors.

Full employment of its graduates is the key priority of the future SET University. Besides professors-practitioners and own venture studio, this target will be facilitated by the so-called income share agreement. Simply put, students will be able to pay for education from out their salaries in IT companies. Сircle is closed.

The founders of American University Kyiv are also trying to overcome the staffing problem and stop educational emigration. The idea of Ukrainian and American investors to turn the Kyiv River Port into a private university also became known last year.

Today, American University is ready to launch 7 majors for about 400 students, the founders say.

The partner of the new educational institution is Arizona State University (ASU), which in turn has become the number one in the US in the field of innovation, leaving the Ivy League behind.

ASU's partner from Kyiv is to be no less innovative. The first students will study IT and business management in the building of the River Port.
