Volodymyr Omelyan: Ukraine can easily have 40-50 million passengers a year

Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan named the necessary costs for the transformation of domestic airports into modern international hubs.

He talked about it in latest issue of TRUMAN Report.

“Today, Ukraine has 16 million passengers a year, but we can easily have 40-50 million, when not only Boryspil, but also other airports will conduct flights. The growth of passenger traffic is crazy: in Lviv and Zhulyany it is up to 50%, in Boryspil  it is up to 20% (one of the three best-developing European average airports),” the minister said.

"The estimated cost of construction of runways is 2-2.5 billion UAH. In Europe, the payback of such projects is 10-15 years, in Ukraine the payback period for the construction of the aircrafts is 5-7 years. Let's proceed from the simple figures: 2-2.5 billion UAH for the runway, 20-40 million USD for the terminal,"- added Volodymyr Omelyan.
